Michael Steele is an American bassist, guitarist, songwriter, and singer. She is also known as Micki Steele. She was a founding member of the rock band The Runaways, and the bassist and co-vocalist of the rock band The Bangles. Cherie Currie and Joan Jett were also members of The Runaways. Other members of The Bangles are Susanna Hoffs, Debbi Peterson, and Vicki Peterson.

Michael is the daughter of Nancy and Earle Thomas.

Michael’s paternal grandfather was Earle/Earl Clarence Thomas (the son of Frederick Clarence/Christian Thomas and Clara Catherine Rauecher/Ranscher/Rauscher). Earle was born in Kansas or Iowa. Frederick was born in Iowa, to German parents, Gotlieb Thomas and Anna Rosina Schuppe. Clara was born in Iowa, also to German parents, Christian Rauscher and Christena Seyb.

Michael’s maternal grandmother was Helen/Helene Esther Strauss (the daughter of Johannes/John Strauss and Sophia/Sophie Caroline Treiber). Helen was born in Illinois.
