Wong Kar-wai is a Hong Kong film director. He is known for his films As Tears Go By, In the Mood for Love, 2046, My Blueberry Nights, The Grandmaster, and Days of Being Wild, among others.

Wong was born in Shanghai, and moved to Hong Kong at age five. His father was a sailor.

He has said that he had trouble learning Cantonese and English, as Mandarin was his first language. He is married to Esther, with whom he has a son.
