William Frawley was an American actor. His roles include Fred Mertz on the series I Love Lucy and The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, and Bub O’Casey on the series My Three Sons; as well as the films Going My Way, Miracle on 34th Street (1947), Monsieur Verdoux, and Gentleman Jim.

He was the son of Mary E. and Michael A. Frawley. His parents were born in Iowa, both of them to Irish parents.

William’s paternal grandfather was named Patrick Frawley.

William’s paternal grandmother was named Bridget Theresa Troy. Bridget was born in Dublin, County Dublin, Leinster.

William’s maternal grandfather was named John Brady.

William’s maternal grandmother was named Mary Greene/Green.
