Conway Twitty was an American singer and songwriter. He was known for rockabilly and country music. He was nicknamed “The High Priest of Country Music.”

Conway was the son of Velma Lee and Floyd Dalton Jenkins. He was partly raised in Helena, Arkansas. He was married to Delores “Dee” Henry, until his death. He had a son with his former wife Ellen Matthews; three children with his former wife Temple “Mickey” Medley.

Conway’s paternal grandfather was Lewis Clark Jenkins (the son of James Monroe Jenkins and Lucinda Catherine Edwards). Lewis was born in Mississippi. James was the son of Aaron Mason Jenkins and Margaret “Peggy” Jones.

Conway’s paternal grandmother was Safronia Alice Lewellyn (the daughter of William Joseph Lewellyn and Louisa Katherine Youngblood). Safronia was born in Mississippi. William was the son of James Lewellyn and Mary J.

Conway’s maternal grandfather was Thomas “Tom” McGinnis (the son of Patrick McGinnis and Catherine Farley). Thomas was born in Mississippi. Patrick was Irish, and was the son of Edward McGinnis and Bridget. Catherine had Irish heritage.

Conway’s maternal grandmother was Rosa Jenkins (the daughter of Elbert Jenkins and Sarah “Sallie” O’Dair). Rosa was born in Mississippi.
