T. J.’s paternal grandfather was Warren Richard Linnard (the son of Roy Melvin Linnard and Sarah Ann Warren). T. J.’s grandfather Warren was born in Texas. Roy was born in Illinois, to Swedish parents, Sven August Linnard and Caroline Lena Johnson. Sarah was born in Illinois, the daughter of William Henry Warren, whose parents were English, and of Celia Jennie Nelson.

T. J.’s paternal grandmother was Clara Nell Christian (the daughter of Sylvester Elisha Christian and Margaret Louise Hampton). Clara was born in Texas. Sylvester was born in Arkansas, the son of George W. Christian and Clarinda “Cora” Grounds. Margaret was born in Texas, the daughter of Wade Malone Hampton and Mary Florence Ellison.
