Arab identity is not based on race or color. It’s based on self-concept and linguistic heritage. So everyone who speaking arabic and identify himself as arab is an arab. Only Arabs in the Middle East are like this.
For instance when modern Turkey was founded, the basic condition for being a Turk was to be a Muslim. Even language didn’t matter. Whether you speak Greek, Bulgarian, Circassian, Serbo-Croatian, Georgian, Arabic or Kurdish etc… Because of that thousands of turkish speaking orthodox christians exiled from Turkey to Greece in 1923. Even today someone from christian background actually anyone of non-sunni background cannot reach high positions. They are seen as unreliable. Its a heritage from ottoman.

Is “arab” a real ethnicity or just a religious and linguistic term? Most north africans and middle easterners fit the white/caucasoid spectrum because of mixing with europeans or because the indignous people of these places are just as much/are also in the caucasoid spectrum of the indignous europeans? Sorry it’s just very confusing…

It has nothing to do with mixing with Europeans. The people of the Levant,ne countries Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Turkey( is not arab) are never been different from the Italians or the Greeks etc. Same mediterranean features.
