Samuel Eto’o is a Cameroonian professional footballer and football administrator. A striker, he played for Real Madrid, Leganés, Espanyol, Mallorca, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Anzhi Makhachkala, Chelsea, Everton, Sampdoria, Antalyaspor, Konyaspor, and Qatar SC, and the Cameroon national team. He is the most decorated African player of all time, often regarded as one of the greatest strikers. He was interim player-manager of Antalyaspor. He has been president of Cameroonian Football Federation, since 11 December, 2021.
Samuel was raised in Nkon, a suburb of Yaoundé. His brothers are professional footballers David Eto’o and Etienne Eto’o. Samuel is married to Georgette, and has four children, including professional footballer Etienne Eto’o. He is Catholic. He has a Spanish passport.
Samuel has experienced racial abuse in some away matches. He is one of several high-profile contemporary players to have reacted to the abuse by threatening to leave the pitch, and being outspoken in criticism of their experiences.
