Robert Walker was an American actor.

He was the son of Zella and Horace Walker. His aunt (mother’s sister), Hortense (McQuarrie) Odlum, was the first woman president of the Bonwit Teller department store, and the wife of financier Floyd Odlum.

Robert was married to Hungarian-born actress Hanna Hertelendy, until his death. He had two children, including actor Robert Walker, Jr., with his former wife, actress Jennifer Jones.

Robert’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Robinson Walker (the son of Joseph Walker and Ann Mitchell). Robert’s grandfather Joseph was born in Pudsey, Yorkshire, England.

Robert’s paternal grandmother was Sarah Jane Hudson (the daughter of William Hudson and Mary Elizabeth White). Sarah was born in Echo Canyon, Utah, to English parents, her father from Brimington, Derbyshire and her mother from Oldham, Lancashire. Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of James White and Mary Ann Lowry.

Robert’s maternal grandmother was Ella Carr Gardner (the daughter of Robert Gardner and Mary Ann Carr). Ella was born in Utah, to a Scottish father from Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire and to an English mother from North Shields, Northumberland. Robert was the son of Robert Gardner and Margaret Calendar/Calinder. Mary Ann was the daughter of John Carr and Dorothy Ann Grainger.
