Ben Johnson was an American film and television actor, stuntperson, and world-champion rodeo cowboy. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Last Picture Show (1971).

Ben was the son of Ollie Susan and Francis Benjamin “Ben” Johnson. Ben had English, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, Scottish, and Irish ancestry. He was also said to have Cherokee Native American roots. It is not clear if this Cherokee ancestry has been verified/documented.

He was married to Carol Elaine Jones, until her death.

Ben’s paternal grandfather was James P. Johnson (the son of Calvin C. Johnson and Sarah Ann Logan). James was born in Missouri or Arkansas. Calvin was the son of Peterson Parrish Johnson and Nancy Emeline Ross.

Ben’s paternal grandmother was named Annie E. McCormick. Annie was born in Missouri or Arkansas.

    Is the genealogy of his father correct? I think censuses of James and Annie doesn’t show his father on them. But if it is, he also has Irish ancestry.
