Peter Marshall was an American game show host, television and radio personality, singer, and actor. He was the original host of The Hollywood Squares, from 1966 to 1981.

Peter was the son of Jean, a costume designer, and Ralph LaCock, who was also in show business. He moved to New York City, New York, around 1936. His sister was actress Joanne Dru (born Joan Letitia LaCock). Peter was married to Laurie Stewart, until his death. He had four children, including professional baseball player Pete LaCock, who played for the Chicago Cubs and the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB), and Yokohama Taiyo Whales. His sister Joanne was married to theme park and planned community developer C. V. Wood, until his death.

His stage surname was said to have been chosen by talent agent John Robert Powers.

Peter’s patrilineal line can be traced to Richard Laycock, who was born, c. 1580, in Kildwick, North Yorkshire, England.

Peter’s paternal grandfather was James S. Lacock (the son of Benjamin Franklin Lacock and Sarah Jane Pratt). James was born in Ohio. Benjamin was the son of Joseph/John Lacock and Rebecca Bane. Sarah was the daughter of John Pratt and Elizabeth/Eliza Bellow.

Peter’s paternal grandmother was Lena Pauline Dietz (the daughter of Henry Dietz and Marie Doffel). Lena was born in Ohio, to German parents.

Peter’s maternal grandfather was George W. Frampton (theson of Hiram Frampton and Marinda Clarisse Beam). George was born in West Virginia. Hiram was the son of Isaac Frampton and Jane Mann. Marinda was the daughter of George W. Beam and Marinda Thomas.

Peter’s maternal grandmother was Blanch Mathews (the daughter of Norris Mathews and Letitia/Letetia M. Campbell). Blanch was born in West Virginia.
