Paul C was an American music producer, audio engineer, mixer, and musician. A hip hop pioneer, he was known for his musical innovations, particularly in sampling, drum machine programming, and audio engineering. He was a member of the groups The Mandolindley Road Show and Mikey D & the LA Posse.
Paul was the son of Lucy Florence and John Henry Makowski/McKasty, who were New York natives. He adopted the initial “C” for “Charles,” as a tribute to musician Ray Charles.
Paul’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Theodore Makowski/McKasty (the son of Franz Makowski and Agnes Zilki/Zilke). Joseph was born in New York City, to Polish parents, from Prussia. Franz was born in Graudenz, the son of Franciscus Makowski and Carolina Habowski.
