Tobe Hooper was an American director, screenwriter, and producer. A prominent name in horror, he directed the films The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Eaten Alive, The Funhouse, Poltergeist, Lifeforce, Invaders from Mars, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Spontaneous Combustion, Night Terrors, The Mangler, Crocodile, Toolbox Murders, Mortuary, and Djinn.
Tobe was the son of Lois Belle/Isabelle and Norman William Ray Hooper, who owned a theatre in San Angelo. He had a son with his former wife Maev Margaret Noonan.
