She has also recorded dance-pop, and utilizes an animated flow in her singing. She has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and is known as the “Queen of Rap.”
Nicki was born Onika Tanya Maraj on Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, the daughter of Carol (Daniel) and Robert Maraj, a financial executive. Her parents were both gospel singers. Her paternal grandfather, whose surname was Maraj, was of Indian-Trinidadian, from India, descent; her father was of Dougla background, a Caribbean term for a mix of Indian and African. It appears that the rest of her family is of African-Trinidadian ancestry. She has evidently also stated that her great-grandfather is Japanese. It is not clear if this is accurate.
Nicki was raised on Saint James initially, though her mother immigrated to New York City, U.S., and later brought Nicki and her brother over when Nicki was five, settling in Queens.
Nicki is married to Kenneth Petty, with whom she has a son.

She is the epitome of fake and ugly. I’ve seen pictures of her where she’s natural, no makeup and her REAL hair color.. She looks waaaay better. Her attitude is also very ugly.
She’s 3/4th black and 1/4th Indian. She’s ugly regardless.
I am considered a black person from an African/Indian/Native Indian mixed country next to Trinidad named Guyana. Nicki Minaj is BLACK , a BLACK woman period. You can have a sprinkle of Indian and still be BLACK. Additionally, Indians do not claim African admixed relatives anyhow, they throw you into the black category just like whites.
@midori29 well they do not claim them until they get famous.
actually in south american and in africa mixed people are recognized
Thats not true. Many places are just like America. Socially even black mixed people are still considered blacks, even if they think they are someone else. As long as you have black blood in a substantial amount anywhere in the world people WILL consider you black. My entire family is from South America, I know.
My birth certificate syas “dark” and has no racial distinction but in my country people know im black. (Does not matter is your grandad or grandmother was indian).
in Europe, Latin America, Africa, mixed people are recognized as mixed, the USA (a country founded on racism) isn’t the center of the world. Thank you.
Your birth certificate may say mixed and people will know you are mixed but socially you would be black, unless you look indistinguishable or people cannot categorize you, or you look like another race.
In Trinidad Nicky would be a black woman with some Indian ancestry.
