Minka Kelly is an American actress and model. She is known for her roles on the series Friday Night Lights and in the films The Roommate and Just Go with It.
Minka is the daughter of Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay and Maureen Kelly, and the granddaughter of actor Richard Ney. Minka’s father has Austrian, German, French, Irish, and English ancestry. Minka’s mother had Irish, English, Scottish, French, Dutch, and German ancestry; Minka likely also has around 1/32 Indonesian ancestry through her mother.
About this, Minka has said:
On the last day of #ImmigrationHeritageMonth, I celebrate the heritage of my own family. My mother[‘]s side is of Dutch Indonesian descent. My father came to New York from France with my grandmother when he was 4. I’m a proud descendant of immigrants and I proudly stand with immigrants.
A picture of Minka with her mother can be seen here.
Minka’s paternal grandfather was Richard Ney (born Richard Maximillian Ney, the son of Erwin Maximillian Ney and Charlotte Marie Donaldson). Richard was born in New York. Erwin was the son of Robert Maximillian Ney, who was Austrian, from Vienna, and of Louisa/Louise Rahael Seibert/Siebert, who was German. Charlotte was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Richard B. Donaldson, who was Scottish, and of Sarah, who was born in Ireland. Minka’s grandfather was said to be descended from Marshal of the Empire, Michel Ney (1769-1815), a French/German soldier and military commander.
Minka’s paternal grandmother was named Madeleine B. Dufay.
Minka’s maternal grandfather was Gordon Lee Kelly (the son of Richard Frederick Kelly and Hazel Agnes McDougal). Gordon was born in California, and had Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry. Richard was the son of Frederick D. Kelly and Ida May/Mae Porter. Hazel was the daughter of William T. McDougal and Lucy Maude Stubbs.
Minka’s maternal grandmother was Renee Yvonne Dumont (the daughter of Pierre Guillaume Dumont and Beatrice Aronds). Renee was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Pierre had French ancestry. Beatrice was born in Bandoeng, Dutch Indies, now Indonesia. Beatrice’s father, Karel/Karl Frederik/Friedrich Aronds, was born in Padang, West-Sumatra, Indonesia, and was of entirely or mostly Dutch descent; Karel’s mother, Sie Rapia (Maria Magdalena), was born in Nias, Indonesia, and was likely of ethnic Indonesian descent. Minka’s great-grandmother Beatrice’s mother, Helene Charlotte von Mosch, was from a family from Prussia.

I don’t know if Helene Charlotte von Mosch was born in Germany. She is usually cited as being born in Semarang, Indonesia.

More likely only her parents were German.
Also, not that anything needs to be changed, but I think Karel’s father had some Indonesian roots too. He has an ancestor named Christina Catherina Tegua. I don’t think “Tegua” is a European surname. But it was the name of a people in Colombia (although that might be far fetched).
I think Minka being 1/32 Indonesian explains why she is so exotic.
Lol. I doubt that 3% affects her looks more than the 97%.
I agree with you Hill. Maybe this alleged Asian ancestry just increase her sex appeal, same for Kate Beckinsale.
Thank you! :)
Here is her mother, who was 1/16th Indonesian:

When is Indonesian going to be added to her ethnicity? She says she is Indonesian and it looks like we have found evidence that she is. That is the most important part of her ethnicity and she is officially a woman of color.
That is not a news, we already knew she has ancestors from Indonesia.
Then why is it not added to her ethnicity? She is 1/32 Indonesian like Richard Branson is 1/32 Indian. It says Richard is 1/32 Indian. Why does it not say Minka is 1/32 Indonesian? That is 3%. That is significant.
She is rather colorful.
Still no Indonesian added?
She claims she is Indonesian.

And it appears that Helene Charlotte Von Mosch was of German descent.

I think this is a genealogy of Karel Frederik Aronds:

I responded to Minka’s post about her heritage and she deleted my comment. She is another one of those white celebrities that misrepresent their ancestry in a desperate attempt to appear more exotic.
If the genealogy I linked is correct, I think she actually has Indonesian ancestry. Karel Frederik Aronds’s mother’s name was Sie Rapia, which sounds like an Indonesian name (rather than European/Dutch). So that makes her at least 1/32 Indonesian (though Karel’s father may have had some Indonesian ancestry too).
Oh, wow, I didn’t even look at it. I thought you would have mentioned it. Sie Rapia does sound Indonesian. :)
She is kinda exotic. She looks like a turkish woman.
