Matt is the son of Elizabeth and John Bomer, who was a Dallas Cowboys draft pick. He was raised in Spring, Texas.

There is an interview from the Ellen Degeneres show from January 2011 where he states this, and also talks about how the drama department at Carnegie-Mellon worked to bust his Texas accent out of hum: “To beyyy ir not to beyyy just doesn’t sound rahhht…”

In the clip, Ellen asks him where he is “from”, and he answers “Spring, Texas”. He doesn’t say he was born there, and there’s definitely a difference. And he wasn’t born there. Perhaps Neal Caffrey’s birthplace is a tribute to Matt’s own birthplace.
BTW, I think Matt Bomer looks like Evan and Jaron Lowenstein. That is why I brought them up yesterday.
