Kevin Williamson is an American screenwriter, director, and producer. He has written the films Scream (1996), I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, The Faculty, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, which he also directed; Cursed (2005), and Scream 4, and co-wrote Sick (2023). He also did uncredited work on Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. He created the shows Dawson’s Creek, Wasteland, Glory Days, Hidden Palms, The Following, Stalker, and Tell Me a Story, developed the show Time After Time, and co-developed the show The Vampire Diaries; and wrote for all of the above.

Kevin is the son of Faye and Wade Williamson, a fisherman. He was partly raised in Aransas Pass, near Corpus Christi, in Texas, before moving back to North Carolina for his teenage years.

Kevin’s paternal grandfather was Otis Meade Williamson (the son of Samuel Lafayette “S.L.” Williamson and Ella Mae Ireland). Meade was born in Pamlico, North Carolina, and was a commercial fisherman. Samuel was the son of Lewis Tulley/Tull Williamson and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Chadwick. Ella was the daughter of Noah William Ireland, Jr. and Nellie.

Kevin’s paternal grandmother was Mary Frances Henries (the daughter of Samuel/Sam Gotire Henries and Annettie/Anita Dean Sadler). Mary was born in Pamlico, North Carolina. Sam was the son of Lewis Warren Henries and Mary E. Carawan. Annettie was the daughter of William Oliver “Billie” Sadler and Mary J. Robinson.

Kevin’s maternal grandfather was named Johnnie/John Henry Pittman (the son of Haywood Pittman and Laura L.). Johnnie was born in North Carolina.

Kevin’s maternal grandmother was Dora Isabel Purifoy (the daughter of Plum Nicholson Purifoy and Lillie/Lilly Edwards). Dora was born in North Carolina. Plum was the son of A. E. Peurifoy and Belle/Bell Warren. Lillie was the daughter of Frank Edwards and Mary Jane Lewis.
