He had also German ancestry
I’m not sure about Ivanhoe Jeanne Louise Gusman’s background. Her paternal grandparents’s surnames were “Gusman” and “Mieli”. Mieli is an Italian Jewish surname. And Gusman is Spanish. Or Sephardi Jewish?
I strongly believe she has Sephardi Jewish ancestry on her Maltese side: “Mieli” is an Italian Jewish family, with several notable figures. Many of them have roots in Alexandria of Egypt.

Her great-great-great-great-great-grandparents were Fortunato Gusman and Marie Pace, and Xavier Mieli and Catherine Carvana. I don’t have any reason to think any of these people were Jewish, and there are non-Jewish Italians named Mieli.
Pace (also in Marie Le Pen’s family tree) and Carvana are Maltese families, Gusman and Mieli aren’t. However even though as you said there’s no reason to think they were Jewish, the Sephardic “Mieli” family came from Spain to Italy and Gusman can be a Spanish surname, so it might make sense.
