Syrian Jews are racially the same as ashkenazi jews. They just have different customs. Genetic studies have proven this.

    • typepope says:

Syrian and Ashkenazi Jews have major differences ethnically, and are not even in the ballpark of being the same “racially.”
On autosomal DNA tests they’re very distant.
All you need is a 1st grade education in population genetics to find this information for yourself.

Seinfeld is the most famous Syrian American, if you count him as one. It is pretty depressing that his TV show depicted his parents as stereotypical Ashkenazi Jews, when of course his mother’s Syrian Jewish heritage is quite different.

    • follers says:

Oh, p.s., the actors who played his parents on his show (Barney Martin and Liz Sheridan) were/are not Jewish. :-)

      • andrew says:

Martin can be anything and Sheridan is Irish as fuck

I would say Jerry Seinfeld is more famous than Paula Abdul.

Jews are said to have lived in Syria for well over two thousand years. Many Syrian Jews also descend from Sephardic Jews who moved there after 1492.

I am sure Syrian Jews have many unique sub-ethno-specific customs, but their religion is still the same as other Jews.

Barney Martin is usually described as being of Irish Catholic background. Liz Sheridan seems like a WASP to me.

I don’t watch TV. “Positive discrimination” and other
    stupid things are boring.
