Date of Birth: December 26, 1971

Jared Leto is an American actor, singer, songwriter, and director. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club (2013). He is also known for his roles in the films How to Make an American Quilt, Prefontaine, Urban Legend, The Thin Red Line, Fight Club, Girl, Interrupted; American Psycho, Requiem for a Dream, Panic Room, Alexander (2004), Lord of War, Chapter 27, Mr. Nobody, as Joker, in Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder’s Justice League; Blade Runner 2049, The Little Things, House of Gucci, and Morbius, and on the shows My So-Called Life and WeCrashed. He directed the documentary films Artifact and A Day in the Life of America. He is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter of rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, for which his brother, Shannon Leto, is the drummer. He has also been credited as Bartholomew Cubbins and Angakok Panipaq.
Jared is the son of Constance (Metrejon) and Tony L. Bryant. Leto was the surname of Jared’s stepfather/adoptive father, Carl Leto. The surname is Italian. Pictures of Jared’s mother can be seen here (at the far left) and here.
Jared’s father, who was from Kentucky, had British Isles/English ancestry. Jared’s mother, who is from Louisiana, has Cajun [French], smaller amounts of English, Irish, German, and Scottish, at least 1/256th Spanish, and remote Dutch and Mi’kmaq First Nations, ancestry. Some of Jared’s ancestors were born in Acadia, now Canada, and Barbados.
At a concert, Jared waved the Spanish flag and stated that his maternal grandfather was of part Spanish descent. One of Jared’s maternal seven times great-grandfathers, Manuel Quintero, was Spanish, and was born, c. 1745, on Sainte Croix, Canary Islands, Spain. This makes Jared of 1/512th Spanish descent. It is not clear if he has any other Spanish ancestry, as some Cajuns do.
Jared’s mother’s Metrejon line can be traced to Joseph Marie Maitrejean, who was born, c. 1778, in Belle-Île-en-Mer, France, an island off the coast of Brittany.
Jared’s maternal grandfather was Edmond William “Willie” Lee Metrejon (the son of Charles J. Metrejean and Ethel Ryder). Edmond was born in Louisiana. The Metrejon/Metrejean surname had originally been spelled Maitrejean. Charles and Ethel were born in Louisiana. Charles was the son of Joseph-Frédéric Metrejean and Victoire-Octana Savoy. Ethel was the daughter of William/Willie Ryder and Marie Berthilde “Bertha” Wyble.
Jared’s maternal grandmother was Ruby Mae Russell (the daughter of Joseph Lee Russell and Helen Hessie Hoffpauir/Houfpauir/Huffpain). Ruby was born in Louisiana. Joseph was born in Florida, to a father from Alabama, Pat H. Russell, and a mother from Georgia, Ella. Helen was born in Louisiana, to Henry Marshall Hoffpauir (the son of Thomas J. Hoffpauir and Anne Dailey/Daily) and Katherine Euranie/Urina Foreman.

This website is a fucking joke.
Yes, I have had my doubts about the reliability of ethnic celebs as well. Inge Gellatly, Gina Rodriguez, Alessandra Torresani, Charlie Sheen, Courtney Love, Jimmy Carter all have claimed Jewish ancestry and probably know more about their ancestry than we do. Also Chuck Norris and Jack Kaminer should be listed as Irish… sad day :(
@bearboy
Chris Cooper, Patrick Dempsey and William Macy have Native American ancestry.
All three of them have English ancestry and also have long lineages living in the United States. In fact ancestry.com said if you have ancestry going back to the 1800’s in America there is a 50% chance already you have Native American ancestor’s (even if very remote)
Chris Cooper has between 1/64 and 1/128 Choctaw ancestry through Nancy Jane Lipsec/Lipsic/Black, while Patrick Dempsey has at least 1/256 Lenape/Delaware blood on his paternal great-grandmother’s “Friend” line, which is Swedish. Macy’s Choctaw ancestry is more distant (1/512)
Cool. I have been told in my lifetime that I look like many different ethnic groups I don’t belong to. One being Native American, along with Jewish, Sicilian, Greek, Arab, etc. One of the claims being on the website so diverse lol
Wow, you look very ethnic.
Based on your description, even neiltennant looks whiter than you..
Yea apparently :) What is Neil Tennant exactly, Arabic (from Saudi Arabia) with a Jewish grandfather?
No, he’s Afghan. But he’s evidently part Russian down the line.
Yet 23andme is the most accurate and white Americans seemingly don’t have Native American DNA coming up often and if they do, it is often less than 1%. It indeed appears that they are more likely to have distant African ancestry. Explain that.
Ethnicelebs is so inaccurate that it knew the precise ancestry of Jessica Biel, who often went around saying she was part Native American, and Ty Burrell before they even had a DNA test. Lol.
Courtney Love is a notorious liar and so is Charlie Sheen. However, it should be noted that Charlie Sheen’s maternal grandfather is unknown because he is a rapist. There is a possibility he was Jewish, but I doubt it.
Furthermore, most Americans clearly do not know what their ancestry is. Chuck Norris claimed to be “half Irish and half Cherokee.” He is very clearly not. Megan Fox claimed she was “Irish, Cherokee, and French” when she is quite clearly mostly of English descent.
Also, most of the celebrities who have gone on “Who Do You Think You Are?” or “Finding Roots” turn out to have no Native American ancestry and the DNA findings almost always correlate with what was already on ethnicelebs.
There’s no doubt that ethnicelebs is pretty accurate. I’m sorry you’re upset that they often do not include your findings of Native American ancestry which very often turn out to either be fake or too remote to determine the accuracy of.

I found Jared’s Spanish ancestry, a seven times great-grandfather. Not sure if he has any more.
can you give me the genealogical link of this Spanish ancestor? I noticed a lot of inbreeding between his Acadian ancestors (tag him as “Acadian” and “French Canadian”), expecially the “Landry” line, and also between his “Higginbotham” forebears:

William Ryder’s “Quintero” ancestry.

thank you.
Jared is related to Ali Landry then, right?
He also have Mi’kmaq ancestry:

Can you give me the fractions on that ancestry, please?
It would take me a while to find them all again, and add up the fractions. For some ancestors it was also hard to tell if they were Native or not.
I think Marie Cayote-Blanc, Marie Miteouamigoukoue, and Marie Mathilde Pidicwanmiskwe were Indigenous.
Cool. Btw I was wondering…if Photography was formally invented in the 1800s how can we have pcitures of a couple who lived in the 1600s? that must be fake. It seems they really existed though.

The name ‘Leto’ led me to believe he was South European, but now seeing its his adopted name his look is even more questionable to me. I can not really see the stated heritage in him, to be honest.
he was the next door guy in his prime:
