Date of Birth: September 13, 1977

Fiona Apple is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, and poet.
She is the daughter of actor Brandon Maggart (born Roscoe Maggart, Jr.) and singer Diane McAfee. Fiona has stated (here) that she has Melungeon ancestry. The Melungeon are an ethnic group often consisting of European, African-American, and Native American ancestry. It is not clear if any documented/verified Melungeon, African-American, or Native American ancestry has been produced for Fiona Apple.
Fiona’s paternal grandfather was Roscoe Maggard/Maggart (the son of Elbert Jason Allen Maggard/Maggart and Louisiana/Louisianna Anna White). Roscoe was born in Tennessee. Elbert was the son of John Maggard/Maggart and Malinda/Melinda Hewitt. Louisiana was the daughter of Hiram Harris White and Carolina/Caroline Sadler/Saddler.
Fiona’s paternal grandmother was Agnes Louvenia Robinson (the daughter of John David Robinson and Maude May Apple). Agnes was born in Tennessee. John was the son of William M. Robinson and Louisa Francis Smith. Maude was the daughter of James Alexander Apple and Mary Susan/M. Farmer.
Fiona’s maternal grandfather was John Morgan “Johnny” McAfee (the son of John Perry McAfee and Ora Bell/Belle Crosser). Fiona’s grandfather John was born in Texas. Fiona’s great-grandfather John was the son of Marshal Dickerson McAfee and Hattie Elliott. Ora was the daughter of George Wesley Crosser and Laurella/Laura Crook.
Fiona’s maternal grandmother was Millicent Ann Greene/Green (the daughter of John William Green and Mildred A./H. Morganthaler). Mildred’s parents were Swiss, with Swiss-German ancestry.

in this picture she looks like she could be 1/4th black, but looking at other pictures of her, she looks completely white.
Fiona Apple doesn’t look white. She has a full bottom lip and puffy eyelids. She looks like she’s tired all of the time. She’s probably like, 1/20th black. Her eyes are not those that belong to a white woman.
Are you serious? She looks White.
@Princess
(Are you serious? She looks White.)
So do both of these girls,but they’re both part black:

Puffy eyelids has nothing to do about being black. You annoy me.
Could you not have chosen a better picture?
She is a goddess.
You can really see the African ancestry in her brother, Garrett Maggart, and her sister, Maude Maggart. I think you should go over her dad’s genealogy again. You might be missing something.
Her brother looks like Thor Freudenthal.
Are you crazy? Fiona looks the most “exotic” of all her brothers and sisters, and my guess is that she has Cajun/Creole roots given her grandmother’s name was, “Louisiana.” There may be Native American roots, as well.
Louisiana’s parents, Hiram and Carolina, are listed as “White” on the 1880 U.S. Census (and they were from Tennessee). They also named their children “Missouri”, “Mississippi”, and, uh, “Tennie”, so I wouldn’t put much stock in their naming choices.

lol @ Mississippi, Missouri, Louisiana, and Tennie
So country
Is Steve Martin considered white in the United States?
@follers
(Louisiana’s parents, Hiram and Carolina, are listed as “White” on the 1880 U.S. Census )
This is nothing towards you,I have mad respect for your skills.This is just to say,them being put down as white on the census,doesn’t tell you everything.People put what they saw themselves as.So even if you were part black,but looked fully white,that’s what you put down.I mean isn’t carol channing listed as white,even when she knew that she was part black since she was 16
Carol Channing’s black grandmother was listed as black, and so was Carol’s father, at some points in his life.
So were the grandparents of Ty Burrell and Shailene Woodley. The South had a one-drop-rule.
She has English and Irish ancestry there is lots Americans and Canadians who have both English and Irish ancestry because there was lots of Intermarriages between English people and Irish people in America and Canada if your born in England and you have English and Irish ancestry your a Mongrel but not a true Mongrel too be a true Mongrel in the UK you have too have English Irish Scottish and Welsh ancestry like I was born in England i have English Irish Scottish Welsh and Filipino ancestry i’m a bit of a Mongrel a true Mongrel Brit my ancestry is Mostly British Isles English Irish Scottish Welsh and Filipino but i have other nationalities running through my veins i have Austrian and German and remote Italian ancestry.
She claimed her father to be Melungeon.
Is her father Steve Martin? If so, she was right.
Let me know if you find any traces of Melungeon once you are done with her father’s genealogy.
