Diego Luna is a Mexican actor, singer, director, and producer. His roles include Before Night Falls, Y tu mamá también, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and Rogue One. He has also been billed as Alexander García.

Diego was born in Toluca, Mexico, and was raised in Mexico City, Mexico, the son of Fiona Alexander, a costume designer, and Alejandro Luna (José Alejandro Dionisio Luna-Ledesma), a set/scenic designer and lighting technician. Diego had his big break when he starred in the critically acclaimed Y tu mamá también, alongside his friend and frequent collaborator Gael García Bernal.

Diego has two children with his former wife, singer, actress, and model Camila Sodi.

Diego’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his third great-grandfather, Vicente Luna.

Diego’s paternal grandfather was Juan Dionisio Luna Orozco (the son of Dionisio Luna Vargas and María Orozco Ávila). Diego’s grandfather Dionisio was born in Mexico City. Diego’s great-grandfather Dionisio was the son of Juan Inocencio de Jesús Luna Sánchez and Tranquilina Vargas Rojas. María was the daughter of José Orozco Castro and Nicolasa Ávila.

Diego’s paternal grandmother was Matilde Mercedes Ledesma García (the daughter of José Guadalupe Ledesma Rubio and Matilde García Isunza). Diego’s grandmother Matilde was born in Coyoacán, Mexico City. José was the son of Federico Ledesma Martínez and María Gorgonia Cornelia Rubio Melo. Diego’s great-grandmother Matilde was the daughter of Francisco de Paula Ricardo García Peña and María Matea Francisca Matilde de la Merced Isunza Lozada.

Diego’s maternal grandfather was Robert Love Alexander (the son of Robert Love Alexander and Jessie McEdward Macrae). Diego’s grandfather Robert was Scottish, from Edinburgh, Midlothian. Diego’s great-grandfather Robert was the son of Robert Love Alexander and Jemima Jane Martin. Jessie was the daughter of John MacRae and Elizabeth Forsyth.

Diego’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Spring (the daughter of George Conrad Spring and Olive Carmen Nicholson). Margaret was born in India. George was born in Tiverton, Devon, England, the son of George Henry Spring and Mary Drysdale Lindsey. Olive was born in Paddington, London, England, the daughter of Charles Joseph Lindsay Nicholson and Frederica Georgiana Lister.
