David Twohy is an American film director and screenwriter. He has directed the films Timescape, The Arrival (1996), Pitch Black, Below (2002), The Chronicles of Riddick, A Perfect Getaway, and Riddick. He wrote the first two, co-wrote the third and fourth, and wrote his fifth, sixth, and seventh films. He has also written the films Warlock (1989) and Terminal Velocity, and co-written the films Critters 2: The Main Course, The Fugitive, Waterworld, G.I. Jane, and Impostor (2002).
David’s paternal grandfather was Arthur Eustace Twohy (the son of Eustace John Twohy and Rose Blocklinger/Blocklin). Arthur was born in Iowa. David’s great-grandfather Eustace was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the son of Henry D. Twohy, who was from Plymouth, England, and of Jane Sutherland Malcolmson, who was Scottish. Rose was born in Iowa, to parents from Switzerland, Godfrey Joseph Blocklinger and Ursula Hilti.
David’s paternal grandmother was Doris Leutitia Richardson (the daughter of Benjamin Franklin “Frank” Richardson and Ida Belle Jones). Doris was born in Iowa. Benjamin was the son of George R. Richardson, who was English, and of Elizabeth Ann Liddle, whose parents were English. Ida was the daughter of Noah Jones and Letitia Paullin.
David’s maternal grandfather was Frank Walliston Hall (the son of William Hall and Ella Walliston). Frank was born in Maine.
David’s maternal grandmother was Hazel Gladys Smith (the daughter of Charles Warren Smith and Evaline Jennie Howard). Hazel was born in Ohio. Charles was the son of Parker Smith and Louvisa Christiana Clark. Evaline was the daughter of Charles W. Howard and Mariette C. Putney.
