Conn Smythe was a Canadian businessperson, soldier, and sportsman in ice hockey and horse racing. He served in WWI and WWII, and was a principle owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs. His name appears on eight Stanley Cups, due to his successes with the Maple Leafs franchise and their championships.

Conn was the son of Mary Adelaide and Albert Ernest Stafford Smythe. His paternal grandparents were Irish.
