Amaarae is a Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter. She is known for her songsĀ “Sad Girlz Luv Money” andĀ “Angels in Tibet.”

She was born in New York City, to Ghanaian parents, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi and Ama Sarpong Bawuah. Her father is the board chairman of the Ghana Export-Import Bank. Her mother is the first female board chair of Access Bank Ghana. Amaarae was raised between Atlanta, Georgia and Accra, Ghana, and also lived in New Jersey.
