Anthony Edwards is an American actor and director. He is known for his roles on the series ER, Northern Exposure, and Designated Survivor, and in the films Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Revenge of the Nerds, and its sequel; Gotcha!, Top Gun, Miracle Mile, Pet Sematary Two, Zodiac, and Planes (2013). He directed the film My Dead Boyfriend.
He is the son of Erika Kem, an artist and landscape painter, and Peter Edwards, an architect. He is married to actress and singer Mare Winningham. Anthony has four children with his former wife Jeanine Lobell.
Anthony’s paternal grandfather was William Albert Edwards (the son of Charles Albert Edwards and Annie Delano Dennis). William was born in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Co., California. Charles was born in Ione, Amador, California, the son of John Edwards, who was English, from Oswestry, Shropshire, and of Elizabeth Sexton. Annie was born in Mattapoisett, Plymouth, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Stephen Dennis and Mary Mason Munro Barstow.
Anthony’s paternal grandmother was Josephine E. Ross (the daughter of Charles Ross and Maria Aurelia Arenas). Josephine was born in California. Charles was Canadian or Scottish, the son of John Ross. Aurelia was of Mexican/Spanish-Mexican descent, the daughter of Luis Arenas and Maria Josefa Petranila Palomares.
Anthony’s maternal grandfather was Kem Weber (Karl Emanuel Martin Weber, the son of Theodor Martin Friedrich Weber and Marie Elisabeth Bergener). Kem was German, from Berlin, and was a prominent furniture and industrial designer, teacher, architect, artist, and art director. He was the main architect of Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. Marie was from Halberstadt, Saxony-Anhalt.
Anthony’s maternal grandmother was Erika Forke (the daughter of Ernst Conrad Alfred Forke and Clara Helene Sophie Forke). Erika was born in Shanghai, China, to German parents. Alfred was born in Schöningen, and was a Sinologist and professor at the University of California, Berkeley; he was head of the Department of Oriental Literature at UC Berkeley. Alfred was the son of Wilhelm Forke and Minna Tenne. Anthony’s great-grandmother Clara was born in Meitzendorf, Saxony, the daughter of Friedrich Carl Ernie Forke and Bertha Amalie Helene Lyassen.
