Dennis DeYoung is an American musician. He is a founding member, and former vocalist and keyboardist, of rock band Styx.

His father was of Dutch, Frisian, and German descent. His mother had Italian ancestry. He is married to Suzanne Feusi, with whom he has two children.

Dennis’ paternal grandfather was Charles Martin DeYoung (the son of Martin Fokkes DeYoung/DeJong and Gesske “Gertrude/Gertie” Winkler Vandessen). Charles was born in Illinois, to parents from the Netherlands. Martin was born in Tjalleberd, Friesland, the son of Fokke Wytzes DeJong and Martzen Martens. Gesske was born in Sintjohannesga, Friesland, the daughter of Andries Jans VanRiezen and Jantje Joukes DeVries.

Dennis’ paternal grandmother was Mary DeYoung (the daughter of Jan “John” DeYoung and Catherine Niehoff). Mary was born in Illinois. Jan was born in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, South Holland, the Netherlands, the son of Arie DeYoung and Marie Huisman. Catherine likely had at least partial German ancestry.

Dennis’ maternal grandfather was Giuseppe “Joseph” Rolla (the son of Felice “Felix” Rolla and Giuseppina “Josephine” Antonietti). Giuseppe was born in Caluso, Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, Italy. Felice was born in Albiano D’Ivrea, Turin, the son of Giuseppe Rolla and Caterina Martire. Giuseppina was also born in Caluso.

Dennis’ maternal grandmother was Rose Marie Fontana (the daughter of Raffaello “Ralph” Fontana and Paradisa DiVito). Rose was born in Illinois, to Italian parents. Raffaello was born in the province of Lucca, Tuscany.
