Brian Haner is an American musician, comedian, and author. He is also known as Guitar Guy and Papa Gates.

He is the son of Florence and Dustin Haner. He is married to comedic hypnotist Suzy Haner. He has two children, including musician Synyster Gates, with his former wife Jan; and a daughter with Suzy.

Brian’s paternal grandfather was Fred Jacob Haner (the son of Frank Edmond Haner and Fannie Burnham Dustin). Fred was born in Wisconsin. Frank was the son of Jacob Martin Haner and Sarah Ann Stroup. Fannie was the daughter of Frederick William Dustan and Helen Eliza Burnham.

Brian’s paternal grandmother was Martha Otelia Gaffron (the daughter of Otto Gaffron and Lois Mae Martin). Martha was born in Wisconsin. Otto was the son of German immigrants Anton “Anthony” Gaffron and Anna Birkner. Lois was the daughter of Mark Martin and Flora Wood Whipple.

Brian’s maternal grandfather was named William Logan West. William was born in Missouri.

Brian’s maternal grandmother was Florence Mahala Davis (the daughter of Lewis Henry Davis and Susanna Williams). Florence was born in Oklahoma. Lewis was the son of Sam Davis and Mahala A. Perryman. He was of Creek Native American descent.
