Tonton Gutierrez is a Filipino actor. He is known for his roles on the series Pangako Sa ‘Yo, and in the films Sana’y Wala ng Wakas, Nakagapos na Puso, Kung Aagawin mo ang lahat sa Akin, Pasan Ko ang Daigdig, Alabok sa Ulap, Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig?, and Abot Kamay ang Pangarap. He is nicknamed Tonton.

He is the biological son of actor Eddie Gutierrez and Liza Lorena (born Elizabeth Ann Jolene Luciano Winsett). He is the half-brother of model Ruffa Gutierrez, and twin actors Richard Gutierrez and Raymond Gutierrez. He is married to actress Glydel Mercado (born Flordeliza Sanchez), and has two children.

Tonton is a third cousin of American musician Bruno Mars. Tonton’s paternal great-great-grandparents, Mariano Herranz Heras and Mamerta Cañizares Secuya, were also Bruno’s maternal great-great-grandparents.

Tonton’s paternal grandfather was Antonio Atayde Gutierrez, Jr. (the son of Antonio María Rogelio Gutiérrez del Campo and María Paz Victoria García y Atayde, or María Paz Victoria García Atayde in Filipino). Tonton’s grandfather Antonio was born in Santa Mesa, Manila, Metro Manila. Tonton’s great-grandfather Antonio was Spanish, and was born in Santander, the son of first cousins Antonio Luciano María Gutiérrez Azpúrua and Filomena Segunda del Campo Gutiérrez. Tonton’s great-grandmother María was Filipino, of ethnic Spanish background. She was the daughter of José María Atayde y Acosta, or José María Acosta Atayde in Filipino, and of Rosalía Paz García y Mirs, or Rosalía Paz Mirs García in Filipino.

Tonton’s paternal grandmother was Mary Rufina Herranz Pickett (the daughter of John Thomas Pickett and Jesusa “Susa” Herranz Cañezares). Tonton’s grandmother Mary was born in Tondo, Manila, Metro Manila. Tonton’s great-grandfather John was a Canadian of English and Scottish descent, who was born in Ontario, the son of Andrew Pickett and Mary Ann McLaren. Some sources inaccurately reported him as an American citizen. Tonton’s great-grandmother Jesusa was born in Hagonoy, Bulacan, the daughter of Mariano Herranz Heras, who was from Nava de la Asunción, Segovia, Spain, and of Mamerta Cañizares Secuya, who was classified as “india” (indigenous), and was born in Talisay, Cebu, Philippines. The surname Secuya is also spelled as Sycuya, which is of possibly Chinese origin, but it is not clear if Sabina had Chinese ancestry.

Tonton’s maternal grandfather was George Neil Winsett (the son of George William Winsett and Fairmayne Malone). Tonton’s grandfather George was born in Tennessee, U.S., and had Cornish, English, German, Irish, Scottish, and Scots-Irish/Northern Irish roots. Tonton’s great-grandfather George was the son of John Daniel Winsett and Ida Mae Aylor. Fairmayne was the daughter of William Houston Malone and Lawilda Stella Porch.

Tonton’s maternal grandmother was named Josefina Luciano. Josefina was a Filipina, from Magalang, Pampanga.
