He is known for his roles in the films Déficit, Sin nombre, Days of Grace, Colosio: El asesinato, Güeros, El más buscado, The 33, Semana Santa, Camino, Tigers Are Not Afraid, Bel Canto, Son of Monarchs, The Forever Purge, Madres, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as Namor; and on television’s Cloroformo, Blue Demon, Here on Earth, and Narcos: Mexico. He has also been billed as Tenoch Huerta Mejía.

Tenoch has a Purépecha paternal great-great-grandmother and a Nahua maternal great-grandmother.
