She is the first openly gay female wrestler in WWE.

Sonya’s paternal grandfather was named Andrew G. Berenato (the son of George/Giorgio Berenato and Rose). Andrew was born in New Jersey. Sonya’s great-grandfather George was the son of Andrea Berenato and Maria Magri. Andrea was from Aci Sant’Antonio, Sicily.

Sonya’s paternal grandfather is Dorothy Ruberton (the daughter of Michael Leroy Ruberton and Gilda Falciani). Dorothy was born in New Jersey. Michael was the son of Rocco Luigi Ruberton/Rubertone and Maria Felicia Colasurdo, who were from Anzi, Basilicata.
