this is what Selena Gomez Says – “I really want to get Rosetta Stone, because I really need to learn my language,” the 18-year-old dished to Latina.com while she was in New York City promoting her new film Ramona & Beezus. Gomez—who is Italian on her mother’s side and Mexican on her father’s side—loves her fellow Latinos, but admits she occasionally experiences trepidation at Latin awards shows because she’s not entirely confident in her language skills.

  2. John says:

Mexican is a race. Her dad comes from Mexico he was born there. Her mom is Italian.

She’s basically more of her dads side he was raised and born in New Mexico!

People want her to be white so bad lmfao!

    • kathleen says:

mexican is not a race dumbass

      • fat lie says:

        mexican is a cultural heritage,not a race

      • John says:

Alright shes spanish are you happy now??? JACKASS

        • brooke says:

Spanish is not a race, nor is Mexican. You can be from Mexico or Spain and be black, white, or asian. There is no set color for either of those countries. You are ignorant.

      • John says:

You’re a dumbass! Mexican may not be a race but in my book it is.
If her dads MEXICAN & THIS MAKES HER SPANISH, LATINA, IDGAF

IT MAKES HER THE SAME AS HER DADDY.

        DUMB ASS BITCH!

THIS IS WHAT SELENA SAID – “I really want to get Rosetta Stone, because I really need to “, learn my language,”

DID YOU HEAR THAT SHE SAID SHE REALLY NEEDS TO LEARN ” HER ” <– LANGUAGE!

SHES SPANISH AND SHE NEEDS TO LEARN HER LANGUAGE BITCH!

        • kathleen says:

you are so dumb, just because she said she needs to learn spanish does NOT mean she is full spanish. she is MEXICAN, mexicans speak spanish, doesn’t means all mexicans are spaniards, its like saying african american people are english just because the language they speak is english, mexicans are predominantly mestizo, which means she could be a mix of spanish (european) and indigenous on her dad’s side.
her race could therefore be mixed white (european) and native
          her nationality is american
          her cultural heritage is latin/hispanic
and her ethnicity is italian and mexican *with spanish and possibly native ancestry.

    • Katie says:

mexicans are usually 70%+ euro on autosomal dna tests.
her mother clearly looks half anglo-saxon:

I think if you tested her she’d be abt 15% NA [native american] or less the rest european.

But culturally yes she is half mexican, and she looks quite hispanic/italian.Though ive seen plenty of eastern european, turkish and middle eastern [syrian] girls that look exactly like her.

I have no interest in makng her seem white as im mixed race myself.

      • WTF says:

        To Katie

(your words):mexicans are usually 70%+ euro on autosomal dna tests

If this was true, that might be because many Mexicans aren’t really native to the country.Their families most likely have come in the last 100 or so yrs.Like what Fuzzy say, many Euro groups have settled in Mexico, and might pretty much have stayed to themselves,or not. This was also the what was intended for Mexico,by José Vasconcelos cosmic race theory;to make Mexicans primarily Euro(with a little bit of African,Asian, and Native mixed in).Look his theory up,if you don’t believe me

  3. Elle says:

oh and she’s extremely fluent in Mexican Spanish! it was her first language!! and she has a little bit of native-salvy, too.
okay you Nazis?? jeez, she’s soooo Mexican and beautiful. i love her dark skin and pointy nose and Asian-ish looking eyes
    just like Mexican girls!!! <3333heart!

  4. Elle says:

She is like %100 native-mexican. wtf.
half english half italian? that would mean she’s bi-racial (half-white, half-mexican) which isn’t clearly.
You people need to get your facts straight and stop guessing that she’s english just based on a lastname which she could’ve gained through ancestral marriage, etc. (meaning: maybe, somewhere along the line having a bit of english blood that’s diluted or what not- she’s still native mexican!) this is so insulting- she’s proud to be native-mexican, you know.

    freaking racists. god.

    • brooke says:

you said half white half mexican. White is a race, mexican is a nationality. Two COMPLETELY different things.
Nobody guessed that she was English through her last name because she’s obviously not English and her last name is definitely not English.
Half Italian, Half Mexican. Although we know her mom is not fully Italian, it doesn’t matter. SELENA IS 100% AMERICAN. So is her mom, and so is her dad. Just because Selena’s great-great-great-great-great times 20 once removed grandfather’s aunt is Italian does not make her Italian. I hate when Americans with very very distant foreign heritage try to jump and claim it when they know nothing about it.

    • edgar says:

she is not 100% native mexican her mother is italian american and her father is an american born mexican mestizo. soo shes more white then native american. she never said sahe was native you know.

  5. paula says:
