Sasha Barrese, also credited under her birth name of Alexandra Barrese, is an American actress and poker player. She is known for her roles in the sitcom Run of the House and The Hangover films.
Sasha was raised by her mother, and grew up with her mother’s surname. Sasha’s mother is of Russian, and a smaller amount of Polish, ancestry, from a family that lived in Harbin and Shanghai, China. On her father’s side, Sasha has English, with some German, Swiss-German, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh, ancestry. Her father’s family is from Oklahoma. She was partly raised in Paris, where her mother was a model. She has two children.
Sasha’s paternal grandfather was Clifford Dow Mooney (the son of Leon Ridley Mooney and Fannie Clifford Ward). Clifford was born in Oklahoma, and was a decorated war veteran. Sasha wrote about her grandfather’s service here. Leon was the son of Jesse Mooney and Ella Courts Ridley. Fannie was the daughter of John Fredrick Ward and Minnie Leeola Jamison.
Sasha’s paternal grandmother was Kathleen Carol Querry (the daughter of Ben W. Querry and Marguerite Sanders). Ben was the son of John Henry Querry and Charlotte Clara “Lottie” Beal. Marguerite was the daughter of Harry Louis Sanders and Lillian Mae Boyd.
Sasha’s maternal grandfather was Felix Barrese (born Felix Slobodchikoff, the son of Leo/Lev/Leon Aleksandrovich/Alexander Slobodchikoff/Solbeau and Antonina Maychroska/Majchrowska/Majchrouska/Machrowska). Felix was born in Shanghai, China. Leo was born in Samara, Russia, the son of Alexander Yakovlevich Slobodchikov and Anna Aleksandrovna Soplyakova. Leo is pictured here, second from right. Antonina was born in Blagoveshchensk, Russia, the daughter of Francis Majchrowski, who was Polish, from Warsaw, and of Katherine Chernik, who was Russian, born in Blagoveshchensk, to a mother surnamed Gorohova. Sasha’s grandfather Felix took the last name of his stepfather Cosmo S. Barrese. Barrese is an Italian name.
Sasha’s maternal grandmother was named Irene Boris Syro/Solomina (the daughter of Nadejda Vladimirovna Sapojnikova, and likely of Boris Solomin). Irene was born in Shanghai, China, to Russian parents. Nadejda was born in Harbin, China, and was the daughter of Vladimir Konstantin Sapojnikov and Olga Vassilievna Sapojnikova, who was born in Tomsk, Russia.

So her mother is American, but both her parents were born in China of Russian descent? Do we know that they were ethnic Russians and didn’t have ancestry from any one of the many minority groups that live there?
Maybe “Solomin” could indicate partial Jewish ancestry?

It could be from Solomon, but apparently it’s more commonly derived from Soloma (straw). None of these names strike me as particularly Jewish.
Harbin I know for sure was a mostly Russian place in late 19th/early 20th century. Shaghai was a huge important port so basicaly everybody lived there.
I believe Natalie Wood’s Russian mother was also born in Shanghai. In fact, I have seen many people of Russian descent with parents or grandparents born in China. Not sure why that is.
I was wrong. Her mother was born in Siberia, but I think she immigrated to the U.S. from Shanghai.
very good looking woman right there
Sasha’s maternal grandfather was Felix Barrese/Slobodchikoff (the son of Antonina Maychroska/Majchrouska). Felix was born in Shanghai, China and was of Russian ancestry. Antonina was daughter of Katherine Maychroska/Majchrouska, and was born in Blagoveshchensk, Russia.
Felix took the last name of his stepfather Cosmo S. Barrese.
I also found records of Sasha’s grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-gradmother, but a bit confused. Her great-grandmother Nadejda had 4 different last names in records : Syromiatnikoff, Solomina, Richter and Sapojnikova.
Her ex-husband was Peter Syromiatnikoff, so it his name.
She came in US with her 3 daughters and mother. All her kids had last name “Solomina” when they came into country, and their second name’s is “Boris”. Which probably name of their father Boris (Borisovna) and not Peter (Petrovna). So i think Irene’s father was Boris Solomin.
Nadejda’s mother is Olga Sapojnikova, and in Nadejda’s son birth certificat her maiden name is Sapojnikova also. link: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V2T2-32W
But where came from “Richter”?
So I think it should be like this:
Sasha’s maternal grandmother was Irene Boris Syro/Solomina (the daughter of Nadejda Vladimirovna Sapojnikova and probably Boris Solomin). Irene was born in Shanghai, China to Russian parents. Sasha’s great-grandmother Nadejda was the daughter of Vladimir Konstantin Sapojnikov and Olga Vassilievna. Nadejda was born in Harbin, China. Olga was born in Tomsk, Russia.
Can somobody help me? Am I right?
Why so many Russians born in China ….. ?
I really thought she would be one of the few celebrities to actually have recent Native American heritage. I guess it’s because she looks a little Asian to me in the eye area. A lot of them claim it and most of those that do have little to none.
I’m talking about Johnny Depp, Elizabeth Warren, Megan Fox, Kim Basinger, Hillary Clinton, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Billy Bob Thornton, Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, and 100s of others.
People say she looks Native American and some sources say she is Russian, Dutch, Irish, and Native American.
Isn’t Russia mostly in the Asian Continent? The theory is that native Americans migrated to the Americas thousands of years ago.
@memphis Most of Russia is a part of Europe. Do to Asians invading White land, some parts are considered Asia because Asians have been there so long.
On the Native American issue, it’s not a theory, it’s a fact. Recent DNA test of them proved they are Asian. I’ve known this for a long time.
Recent archeological digs in America found evidence of Europeans being here between 10,000 to 15,000 years before Native Americans.
lol, what kind of stormfront history is this?
The bulk of Russia’s, the nation land resides on the Asian continent not Europe. The bulk of Russia’s population however is in the West and is in Europe. Look at a globe or map or something. Google it…
As for the 10-15k years thing? Doubtful, very very doubtful. It’s possible they could have landed on the Americas earlier but not that early. There would be little to no reason to stay the western hemisphere at the time, was an inhospitable place. They probably couldn’t make it on foot, the food supply would have been too meager, they would have had to come by sea, and at the time, 25 thousand years ago, no one had boats that could get traverse across the Atlantic.
Aren’t you the same person who said Asians invaded Northern Europe a long time ago?
TheHelper maybe we’re both wrong –

You should add hers.
