Sara Jacobs is an American politician. A member of the Demcoratic Party, she has been a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California, since January 3, 2021.

Sara is the daughter of Jerri-Ann and Gary E. Jacobs, a businessperson, who founded the Gary and Jerri-Ann Jacobs High Tech High Charter School, and owns Lake Elsinore Storm, a Minor League baseball team. Her grandfather, Irwin M. Jacobs, co-founded, and chaired, multinational corporation Qualcomm, and chaired, and was on the board of trustees of, scientific research institute Salk Institute. Her uncle is businessperson Paul E. Jacobs, who is the CEO of satellite communications company Globalstar, and was the executive chairman of Qualcomm.

Sara’s paternal grandfather is Irwin Mark Jacobs (the son of David Jacobs and Shirley Gordon). Irwin was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and is an electrical engineer and businessperson. David was the son of Austrian Jewish parents, Meyer Jacobs and Gussie Gross. Shirley was the daughter of Russian Jewish parents, Samuel Gordon and Esther Meyerson.

Sara’s paternal grandmother was Joan Klein (the daughter of Samuel Leo Klein and Josephine Rosenzweig).

Sara’s maternal grandfather was David Beryl Yorysh (the son of Abraham Yorysh and Rose Geller). David was born in New Jersey. Abraham was the son of Jewish emigrants, Barnett Yorysh/Jorysz Rose, who was born in Grzymalów, Lodzkie, Poland, and Dora Rosenthal, who was born in Slonim, Grodno, Belarus. Rose was the daughter of Russian Jewish parents, Benjamin Geller and Frances Fortman.

Sara’s maternal grandmother is the daughter of Abraham Berlin, who was born in Ostrów, and of Bertha Fried, who was born in Russia.
