It must be true. Alot of Irish slaves ended up in the Carribbean, thanks to the English.

        PS.

Ever hear of Montserrat in the Caribbean?? It’s known as the ”Emerald Isle of the Caribbean” due to the huge influence of the Irish.

correct. they imported many irish people to the caribbean as indentured servants in the early colonial and slave days. That didn’t last as long-africans were more affordable and as some historians noted “could do the work of 4 men” But because blacks and irish occupied similar social status during that time, you had intermixing and both groups coming together socially. This stimulated fear in the white upper class. I mean seriously, ever wonder how european ethnic groups became assimilated under the racial term “white”when many were considered the negroes of europe (e.g. italians, irish, polish not cesessarily considered white in the beginning) it was to create separateness between the poorer european ethnic classes and african slaves. slave owners feared insurrections amongs those groups, so they created a sense of communalism between them and poor whites by saying hey at least you’e not black you’re one of us. interestingly enough sociologits note people actually have more in common with their socioeconomic class than race. enough of the history lesson I don’t understand why ysomeone would question rihanna’s race. please go to west african and bring me someone that looks like rihanna back….you can’t, because she’s mixed. adios.

To OMG:Sorry have to disagree, but one black slave was worth 10 Irish. Also they use Irish women as breeding stock for light color slaves for almost a century. Also if you look at the Igbo tribe and others you would see there are plenty of people who look like her.Now the bloodline is from back migration, so their not mixed in the way Rihanna is,but there are also many who are mixed like Angolan women. Mauritania women, I’ve even seen some liberian women

almost true. realize that african slaves were worth more becuase of the price slaveowners paid for at the block .1855, Frederic Law Olmsted-the architect of central park-was told after seeing slaves in alabama tossing bales of cottin in a hold occupied by irish that n*****s were worth too much to be risked and that if the others were knocked overboard or crushed nobody would lose a thing. Colonel william Brayne wrote in 1658 to the english authorities to encourage the importation of african slaves because of the killings of irish slaves- he told them that planters would have a vested interest in protecting african slaves more because they paid money for them whereas Many irish were political prisoners, children sold off for their families debts, or prisoners for a small price compared to an african. Also it’s a known fact that amerindians were used first as slaves but didn’t last 1) because they knew the land they were clearly able to escape and were a problem 2) the nature of a plantation work was foreign as for some amerindian ethnic groups the men were the hunter and gatheres whereas the women stayed at home were largely responsible for the field work. Indentured servants were used however but the climate of the caribbean and southern american was foreign to europeans and many died. Africans were expressly used 1) because their skin color marked them as other 2)non christians could be enslaved 3) becuase the climate was similar to tropical africa and therfore blacks could assimilate better and were more durable 4) the money made still outweighed the deaths of millions of africa lost on the middle passage and worked to death in the harsh caribbean slave system 5) crops such as rice, yams etc.. were somewhat native to africans who adapted and were able to tend them better 6) an african could not escape and return home because of the language barrier, and the fact that their home was a continent away
