Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was a Russian composer, of the Romantic period.

He was the son of Alexandra Andreyevna (d’Assier) and Ilya Petrovich Tchaikovsky, a lieutenant colonel and engineer. He managed the Kamsko-Votkinsk Ironworks.

Pyotr’s paternal grandfather was named Pyotr/Petro Fedorovich/Fedorovych Tchaikovsky/Chaika (the son of Fedor Afanasyevich Chaika and Anna). Pyotr’s grandfather Pyotr was born in Mikolayivka, Poltava Gubernia, Russian Empire, and was a city governor of Glazov in Vyatka. Fedor was a Cossack, and was the son of Opanas Chaika.

Pyotr’s paternal grandmother was named Anastasia Stepanovna Posokhova.
