Birth Name: Paula Maxine Patton

Place of Birth: Los Angeles, California, United States

Date of Birth: December 5, 1975

Ethnicity:
*father – African-American
*mother – German, English, smaller amount of Dutch

Paula Patton is an American actress. She is known for her roles in the films Hitch, Idlewild, Déjà Vu (2006), Jumping the Broom, Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, 2 Guns, Warcraft, and Sacrifice (2019).

Her father, Charles Patton, is black. Her mother, Joyce (Van Raden), who is white, has German, English, and at least 1/16th Dutch, ancestry. Paula has identified herself as Black. She has stated:

I find it [the term “biracial”] offensive. It’s a way for people to separate themselves from African-Americans… a way of saying ‘I’m better than that.’ I’m black because that’s the way the world sees me. People aren’t calling Barack Obama biracial. Most people think there’s a black president.

Paula has a son with her former husband, singer and songwriter Robin Thicke.

Paula’s maternal grandfather was Benjamin Alexander Van Raden, Jr. (the son of Benjamin Van Raden and Grace Read Alexander). Paula’s grandfather Benjamin was born in New York. Paula’s great-grandfather Benjamin was born in Nebraska, the son of Carl Edward Holeman Van Raden, whose father was Dutch and whose mother was German, and of Louisa Bergman, whose parents were German. Paula’s great-grandmother Grace was born in New York, and had English ancestry. Grace was the daughter of Robert Read Alexander and Laura Davis, who were from Massachusetts.

    • Delnegro says:

      Black and white fuckin einstein

      • James says:

        Delnegro is disgusting.

      • jayb says:

Why are u so aggressive? She clearly doesn’t see it that way. If they are black and white that would mean that they are bi-racial (but she doesnt like that term because it is “offensive”). Thanks for calling me Einstein. I am really smart, although I wouldn’t say that I am at Einsteins level, yet! :) But it does bring me great joy to see that you are aware of my high intelligence. Kudos!!!

African American, there are many African American women who have kids with white people and raise there kids as African American duh! I live with two people like that right now, my sisters and they in turn had kids to African Americans! African Americans are for ever mixing in different ways – We have a rich wonderful history, and Im sure Robin Thicke would want his kids to be raised in African American culture- he can teach them about his culture but his kids will still be African American!

wtf?? so she IS biracial and technically half-white…. so what is supposed to be so offensive about being told she’s half caucasian when she is?
the only thing she’s saying by claiming she’s “offended” by being called half-caucasian is that there’s something wrong with being related to white people. patton is a complete fuckhead. she’s biracial and that’s the end of it when it comes to her herritage.
being either a black or a white is what you consider yourself, there are people whiter than me who have a drop of aboriginal blood in them who consider themselves black because that’s what they choose to identify with, so whatever, but they don’t go claiming entire black herritage and saying they’re offended by being told they are what they are: biracial.

a note to patton: just because black people like to lay claim to someone as successful and pretty as yourself whereas whites couldn’t give a flying shit, doesn’t mean you need to be a sensitive racist cunt.

    • Amber B says:

Well obviosly you do care! If you were African American maybe you would understand we try to uplift our people- not bring them down like you just did! This country have put down African Americans for a long time- and that is African Americans of all colors- from mixed- to yellow- to tan-to brown- to dark dark dark brown- we are all in one- we are all in the same! We have been told we were ugly, uneducated and wont amount to nothing! So she is successful and beautiful and wants to let the world know she is African American and she is beautiful, intelligent and smart! So it is just letting the caucasian race know what they think about African Americans are not true

      • kaylee says:

Rudy you are a complete idiot and racist dumbass. Thats so ignorant! There are MANY beautiful people who are just black. Have you met every black person? NO so how can you make such a stupid statement? And I hate when people try to act like white people are not racist. I live with white people my grandad, uncles and aunts are of german heritage and they are all members of the stormfront website. they are extremely racist. Stop being in denial

        • Amber B says:

Have you ever heard of Kenya Moore! Nia Long! Jessica White! Demaris Lewis! Those are all Dark African Americans who are very beautiful! Cant say they are not mixed because I dont know! Most African Americans are mixed rather light are dark! There are also many bi racial people that are not beautiful- there are also very many white people who are very ugly- and there are also very many dark people who are beautiful- so what you said is wrong! This is the reason why she said she is black not white because white people are disgustingly racist and constantly put down her African ancestors! So she wants to let the world know how beautiful and intelligent her black ancestors are- so please dont hate, just because she acknowledges being African American is the most beautiful thing in the world!

First thing first it’s just a shame how some folks are about race cuz when we die god don’t care and you will come back as a race u hate the most. My father is native indian from Toas NM and my mother is black my brother and I were brought up to be proud of being black and native American being proud of both and knowing the world will see me as black but knowing who I am and what my mix is far from me thinking i am better or too good!!!! I will NOT deny my mother nor my father cuz of other people hung ups!!!! My dads people and my mothers people had in hard in America and maybe that is y they fell in love and still til this day! I am proud n can give a rats ass what any race says! Personal I think she is ashamed but that is how she feels and be it! One thang fosho, ain’t no pure race in America anymore! Remember, we all bleed the same and when u die the lord is not gonna care what race u are but will care how u treat others and yourself while u were on this earth!

SHE’S SAYING THT MOST PPL IN AMERICA WHO ARE JST BLACK CLAIM THT THEY ARE BIRACIAL WHEN THEY AREN’T .. WHICH IS THE TRUTH .. THEY SAY THT BECUZ THEY R NOT PROUD BEING JST BLACK .. & MAKE THEM SELVES SEEM EITHER EXOTIC OR INTERESTING ..
IN THIS CASE SHE SAYS THT I’M NOT BIRACIAL [ BLENDED ]
    & I’M BLACK & PROUD ..
ALOT OF AFRICAN AMERICANS SULD BE PROUD OF HER ..

    BTW ,, I’M FRM DUBAI :)))

    • Callie says:

Yeah, that is within what she is saying…that people who are “only” of African descent are not proud, but they should be. But the MAIN thing she is saying is JUST what she said above, that bi-racials sometimes use that term and whether they mean it or not, they cause dvision using that term. And sometimes make one side seem superior to the other. She is saying that she is proud of both and so won’t use tha term. African and European (and Asian) races are all exotic in their own unique and great ways.

  5. Whaaahttt? :S says:

Thats racist to us whites denying her white side and claiming that being called biracial is offensive! Gosh i hate her now! Racist bi*ch!!

    • Amber Berg says:

she is black and proud get over it!

    • Callie says:

You are one of those white people trying to find a reason to feel hurt after all the hurt caused on blacks. Anyway, more to the point, you don’t pay attention do you? I f you learn to read better, you would have noticed the part where she stated she will not use bi-racial because she acknowledges both sides. And if you were in her bi-racial shoes (which apparently, you are not), you would realize she considers herself black mainly because that is the side she identifies the most with. Don’t call nasty names and judge just because you have unfounded “white anger” and have never walked in someone’s shoes to even dare tell them how to think of themselves. That is ignorant and acting like you own somebody. You don’t.
