Millie is the daughter of Catherine Louise and Adolph Perkins, a merchant marine captain. Her father was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, to parents from Gussing, Burgenland, Austria. He is often said to have been of Hungarian and Mongolian descent. It is not clear if Millie has Mongolian ancestry.
Millie was raised in Fair Lawn. She was married to writer and director Robert Thom, until his death, with whom she has two children.
Millie’s paternal grandfather was named Adolph/Matthias Kuhar.
Millie’s paternal grandmother was Anna Marie Bauer (the daughter of Carroll Bauer and Mary Phuler). She re-married George E. Perkins, who was born in Maine, to Maine-born parents.
Millie’s maternal grandfather was James Lawrence Marmand (the son of James Marmand and Annie B. Maher/Marr). Millie’s great-grandfather James was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Paul/Hypolite Marmand and Barbara LeBlanc, and was of French-Canadian descent. Annie was also born in Canada, the daughter of Maurice Maher and Anna Welch, and was of mostly or entirely Irish descent.

Bablah, what was Anna Kuhar’s ancestry? Millie is said to be partly Hungarian on her father’s side, but Kuhar seems to be a mostly Slovenian surname. And Adolph Perkins always listed his ethnicity as Austrian (or American) on ship’s crew lists.
According to 1915 NJ census, Adolph was born in Hungary.
From some family trees his parents were Adolph/Matthias Kuhar and Anna Marie Bauer, which would make sense, that George is his step-father. These family trees also claim Adolph and Anna were from Gussing, Burgenland, Austria. Kuhar could be a Croatian last name. Bauer is German, and she’s german speaking according to the census, so she was most likely regular Austrian.
Thank you. I wondered why the familysearch tree said that Anna’s surname was Bauer despite the marriage record saying it was Kuhar, but this makes sense. Anna was the daughter of Carroll Bauer and Mary Phuler.

Adolph’s brother Carl/Karl/Charles Kuhar says that he was born in Bucsu, Vas County, Hungary (right next to the Austrian border), lived in Güssing, Austria, and that his race was “Magyar”.

Where did you find these family trees in which Adolph’s parents are mentioned? Is his father on any American record?
They’re on ancestry.com
Kuhar is mainly a Slovenian surname.
