Milena is the daughter of Marilyn (Green) and Bruce Michael Govich. Her father was a first-generation American, of Serbian ancestry. Her mother has English, and is also said to have Scottish, roots. Milena’s aunt (father’s sister) is actress Milica Govich. Milena is married to writer, composer, and film producer David Cornue.

Milena’s paternal grandfather was Michael George Govich (the son of parents whose surnames were Gvoić and Trkulja). Michael was born in Yugoslavia (now Serbia).
