Maya DiRado is an American competitive swimmer. She won an Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Olympic games, in the 200 meter backstroke.

Maya is the daughter of Marit (Parker) and Reuben DiRado. Her paternal grandparents were Argentinian, and immigrated from Europe after World War II. The surname “DiRado” is of Italian origin. Her mother is of English and Norwegian heritage.

Maya’s maternal grandparents were Eric Bratton Parker (the son of William Bratton Parker and Brynhild Brandstad) and Jane Pratt (the daughter of Malcolm Lewis Pratt and Katherine West).
