Maya DiRado is an American ompetitive swimmer. She specialized in freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and individual medley events. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she won a gold medal in the women’s 4×200 meter freestyle relay, a gold medal in the 200 meter backstroke, a silver medal in the 400 meter individual medley, and a bronze medal in the women’s 200 meter individual medley. She is nicknamed Maya.

Maya is the daughter of Marit and Ruben DiRado. Her paternal grandparents were Argentinian, and had originally emigrated there from Europe after WWII. The surname DiRado is of Italian origin. Her mother is of English and Norwegian heritage.

Maya is married to Stanford swimmer Rob Andrews, with whom she has a son.

Maya’s maternal grandfather was Eric Bratton Parker (the son of William Bratton Parker and Brynhild Brandstad).

Maya’s maternal grandmother was Jane Pratt (the daughter of Malcolm Lewis Pratt and Katherine West). Jane was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
