Matt Barnes is an American professional basketball player. He played for the Fayetteville Patriots, the Long Beach Jam, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Sacramento Kings, the New York Knicks, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Golden State Warriors, the Phoenix Suns, the Orlando Magic, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is 6′7″.
His father, Henry M. Barnes, Jr., is African-American. His mother, Ann Catherine (Barrile), has Italian/Sicilian ancestry. His brother is professional football player Jason Barnes, who has been a wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Matt has two children with his former wife Gloria Govan.
Matt’s maternal grandfather was Dominic Barrile (the son of Girolamo/James Barrile and Caterina/Catherine Cancilla). Dominic was born in Illinois, to Italian parents. Girolamo was from Agrigento, Sicily. Caterina was the daughter of Tony Cancilla and Maria Rubino or Sanseri.
