Martin Johnson is an English rugby union player and coach. He is known for captaining England to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Martin is regarded as one of England’s greatest ever players. He stands at 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m).

Martin is the son of Hilary Cleminson and Dave Johnson. His grandfather was said to have been a wrestler.

Martin’s maternal grandfather was named Bill Cleminson (the son of William Osborne Cleminson and Ethel). Martin’s great-grandfather William was born in Darlington, Durham, England, to Cornish parents, John Cleminson and Mary Jane Osborne. Ethel was also Cornish, from St Buryan.
