Marcello Lippi is an Italian professional footballer and manager. A sweeper, he played for Sampdoria, Savona, Pistoiese, and Lucchese, and the Italy national team. He has managed Sampdoria (the youth team), Pontedera, Siena, Pistoiese, Carrarese, Cesena, Lucchese, Atalanta, Napoli, Juventus, Inter Milan, the Italy national team, Guangzhou Evergrande, and the China national team. He led Italy to win the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He is regarded as one of the greatest and most successful managers in football history.

Marcello is the son of Adele (“Adelina”) Degl’Innocenti and Salvatore Lippi. Adele was from Florence, Tuscany, Italy.
