Louis Jourdan was a French actor. His roles included the films The Paradine Case, Letter from an Unknown Woman, The Swan, Gigi, The Best of Everything, The V.I.P.s, Swamp Thing, Octopussy, and The Return of Swamp Thing, and television’s Count Dracula (1977).
He was the son of Yvonne Geneviève (Jourdan) and Henri/Henry François Gendre, a hotel owner. He was educated in France, Turkey, and the U.K. During WWII, his father was arrested by the Gestapo. After his father’s escape, Louis joined the French Resistance. Louis was married to Berthe Frédérique, until his death, with whom he had a son.
Louis’ paternal grandfather was Louis Jacques Gendre (the son of Auguste Ferdinand Gendre and Jeanne Françoise Lachat). Louis’ grandfather Louis was born in Buchillon, Switzerland. Jeanne was the daughter of Abraham Elie Charles Lachat and Jeanne Françoise Henriette Mauris.
Louis’ paternal grandmother was Pauline Andreline Ducros (the daughter of Pierre Emile Ducros and Antoinette Luce Aiguier). Pauline was born in Ollioules, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, France.
