I’ve heard that too, but I have great-grandparents from both Sicily and Italy and when people ask of my heritage, I just say Italian. When I say “Sicilian” a lot of people go, “Oh that’s cool, I have some friends who are Italian.” So I just assumed that both were somewhat the same. No one debate or yell at me, I’m just explaining a story is all lol.

Sicilian is not Italian and will never be. Sicilian are a very mixed people and are their own people.
