Kevin Rudd is an Australian politician. He served as Prime Minister of Australia, from 3 December, 2007 to 24 June, 2010, and again from 27 June, 2013 and 18 September, 2013. He has also been a Member of the Australian Parliament for Griffith, from 3 October, 1998 to 22 November, 2013, Leader of the Opposition, from 4 December, 2006 to 3 December, 2007, Leader of the Labor Party, from 4 December, 2006 to 24 June, 2010, and again from 26 June, 2013 to 13 September, 2013, and as the 9th Chairperson of the Commonwealth of Nations, from 27 June, 2013 to 18 September, 2013, among other duties.

Prime Minister Rudd is the son of Margaret Eugenie (DeVere) and Albert Edward “Bert” Rudd. His mother was of three quarters Irish and one quarter English descent. His father has English, likely some Irish (possibly through the surnames “Larkin/Larken” and “Lynch”), and 1/128th French (Prime Minister Rudd’s sixth great-grandfather, Joseph Mathon, was born in St Severe, Gascogny, France), ancestry.

Prime Minister Rudd’s paternal grandparents were Albert Edmond George Rudd (the son of John Albert Rudd and Sarah Elizabeth Winnell). John was the son of John Rudd and Elizabeth Jane Larkin. Sarah was the daughter of Joseph Winnell/Winnel, who was English, and of Catherine “Kate” Lynch.

Prime Minister Rudd’s paternal grandmother was Maude/Maud Elizabeth Harrison (the daughter of Joseph Harrison and Julia Sutton). Joseph was born in Appley Bridge, England, to John Harrison and Mary Ann. Julia was born in Romford, England, to Mark Benham Benjamin Sutton and Sophia Wright.
