Kevin Mitnick was an American computer security consultant, author, and hacker. He was known for his 1995 arrest and five years in prison for computer and communications-related crimes. He later ran security firm Mitnick Security Consulting, LLC., was Chief Hacking Officer and part owner of security awareness training company KnowBe4, and was an active advisory board member at mobile intrusion prevention system developer Zimperium. He was also known as The Condor and The Darkside Hacker.

He was the son of Rochelle and Alan Mitnick. He was married to Bonnie Vitello.

Kevin’s maternal grandfather was Sidney Kramer (the son of Benjamin “Ben” Kramer and Rose Leaderman). Sidney was born in Pennsylvania, to Jewish emigrant parents. Benjamin was born in Kiev, Ukraine, the son of Chaim Kramer and Etta. Rose was born in Talachyn, Vitebsk Region, Belarus, the daughter of Schloma Leaderman and Fannie Reman.

Kevin’s maternal grandmother was Reba Palma Helfand (the daughter of Joseph “Joe” Helfand and Ella Pickowskaya). Reba was born in California, to a Russian Jewish father and a Polish Jewish/Russian Jewish mother.
