Johnny Buss is an American executive. He is part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has also been president of the Los Angeles Lazers professional indoor soccer team and the Los Angeles Sparks professional women’s basketball team.

He is an independent candidate for President of the United States in 2024.

Johnny is the oldest son of JoAnn and businessperson, investor, chemist, and philanthropist Jerry Buss (Gerald Hatten Buss), who owned the Los Angeles Lakers.

Johnny’s paternal grandfather was Lydus Henry Buss (the son of Charles Frederick Buss and Julia Henrietta Magney). Lydus was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was an accountant, who taught statistics at Berkeley. Charles was the son of Deidrich Buss and Adeleida H. Julia was the daughter of a French father, Ernest Eugene Lenoir Magny, and of a Belgian mother, Amelia Josephine Halleux Page.

Johnny’s paternal grandmother was Jessie Mae Hatten (the daughter of Jesse W. Hatten and Anna Lannon). Johnny’s grandmother Jessie was born in Evanston, Wyoming. Johnny’s great-grandfather Jesse was the son of John W. Hatten and Susan “Sallie” Stiffler. Anna was the daughter of Charles Augustus Lannon and Mary Elizabeth Lamb.

Johnny’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Mueller.
