John Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten, is a British singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the lead singer of punk rock band Sex Pistols. Other members of the band were Sid Vicious, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook.

His parents, Eileen Lydia (Barry) and John Christopher Lydon, were working-class emigrants from Ireland. John’s father was from Tuam, Galway, and his mother was from Carrigrohane, County Cork. John was raised Catholic. He was married to German-British music promoter, publishing heiress, actress, and model Nora Forster, until her death.
