Sally Jewell is an American businessperson. A member of the Democratic Party, she served as the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, from April 12, 2013 to January 20, 2017.

Sally was born in London City, London, England, the daughter of Anne (Murphy) and Peter Roffey. Her family moved to the U.S. in 1959, settling in Washington state. Her mother was born in Meerut, India, to British parents.

Sally is married to engineer Warren Jewell, with whom she has two children.

Sally’s paternal grandfather was named Bernard Wilson Roffey.

Sally’s paternal grandmother was Joyce Emily Craggs (the daughter of Sir John George Craggs and Helen Lewins Millar). Sir John was Knighted, and was a chartered accountant and philanthropist.
