Leonardo DiCaprio in ten years, leo a secret Albanian???
Like andrew said, his maternal grandparents were born in Greece. Why isn’t Greek in his ethnicity?
Consider that Paulie D is still listed as just “Italian”.
He’s not going to consider anything. Pauly D is just Italian and has said so.
Just because you’re a self-hating Italian who “decides” that every Italian who doesn’t look like what you think they should isn’t actually Italian, doesn’t change facts.
What should I add to Pauly D’s ethnicity? Greek, Welsh, Turkish, Saudi Arabian?
oh no, even Midori said Paulie’s mother is 1/4 black. She’s very expert on that topic.
I suggest a “possibly other” for Paulie and “possibly Greek” for James.
Pauly D has said “I’m 100% Italian”.
If Pauly D gets a “possibly other” label, then I’m putting in a “possibly other” label for every Italian with a page on this web site.
For the record, I will gladly put in a “possibly other” label on Ariana Grande if that gets her off every page.
He can say what he wants but the appearance of his mother tells another story.

Why should it be? There’s no evidence they were ethnic Greeks or identified as Greek (unless you have evidence otherwise). Thessaly was part of the Ottoman Empire until 1881, that doesn’t mean the family identified as Ottoman back then.
Would not their surname constitute evidence?

People named “Samaras” also identify as having been born in Albania. Are we sure they’re considered ethnic Greeks?

According to this tree, his maternal grandfather was born in Korçë, now in Albania.

Unfortunatelly, Ottomans didn’t do censuses and it’s impossible to know about all his ancestors. His recent ones consider themselves Albanian and that is the only thing that is for certain, everything else is just speculation. They could have been Hellenized Albanians.
I have a feeling that this is what Leonardo is gonna look like when he gets old.
I see Greek surnames

I was referring to “Samaras”. There are two well-known Samaras in Greece.

Demetri George Samaras was born in “Καρδίτσα, Θεσσαλία, Ελλάς (Karditsa, Thessaly, Greece), and Anna Popa was born in Ελλάς (Greece)
if you look at Albanian ancestry, they are a branch of Italo-Albania. most Albanians have Roman ancestry. Belushi, is an albanized form of Bellusci or Belluschi, he is almost certainly of some Italian ancestry.
Albanians aren’t of Roman ancestry. They’re said to be of Illyrian ancestry or Thracian ancestry. Albanian language has many Latin loanwords, but that doesn’t mean they’re Latin.
